About the event

The Embassy of Canada in Tunisia and the Embassy of Canada in Libya proposed to continue with the organization of the 2nd edition of #FemParl in order to guarantee the continuity of this initiative. This edition will be organized in Tunis on February 26 and 27, 2020 in partnership with the Forum of Federations and the Center of Arab Women for Training and Research (CAWTAR), as part of the project “Empowerment of women for leadership roles in the MENA region”.

The 2nd edition of #FemParl MENA will bring together women leaders, including parliamentarians working for gender equality and the empowerment of women. The women parliamentarians will exchange views with women and men leaders from the host country (Tunisia) and the North Africa and Levant region, from different fields; personalities from the academic world, the private sector and civil society. They will participate in interactive discussions with experts and speakers during these capacity building and exchange sessions which will focus on 3 main areas from the 2030 agenda: knowledge of the objectives of sustainable development, violence against women in peace and conflict times and the use of social media as a tool to empower women.

This 2nd edition of #FemParl will also be accompanied by a social media campaign.
